Culinary Arts Careers prepares students for occupations and higher education programs of study related to the entire spectrum of careers in the food industry, including (but not limited to) food production and services; food science, dietetics, and nutrition; and hospitality and tourism. Instruction and intensive laboratory experiences may include commercial applications of principles of nutritious, aesthetic, and sanitary selection, purchasing, storage, preparation, and service of food and food products; using and maintaining related tools and equipment; managing operations in food service, food science, or hospitality establishments; providing for the dietary needs of persons with special requirements; related research, development, and testing. Intensive laboratory experiences with commercial applications are a required component of this course of study.

Program Topics:

Students will learn about all aspects of the food industry through a variety of experiences.


  • Learn and effectively practice basic and advanced technical skills in food preparation and service
  • Understand the principles of food identification, nutrition, food and beverage, and commercial kitchen sanitation
  • Become familiar with the layout and work flow of a professional kitchen

Students have an opportunity to try out for the Culinary ProStart Team & Skills USA Teams


Students who sign up for Culinary Arts 3 will run the Central Nine Restaurant “To The Nines”

  • High School Diploma with Career Training: $8.00 - $12.00/hr
  • College or Additional Training: $17.00 - $32.00/hr

  • Chef Uniform, Non Slip Shoes, Chef Hat or hair net. Absence of all jewelry

Program Fees:

  • Book Fees: $103.64
  • Classroom Supplies: Chef Jacket, pants, Black non slip shoes, black socks, 2 white aprons, chef hat,2” binder = $100.00

Career and Technical Student Organization:

(Skills USA)(ProStart-FCCLA) Students participate in community service projects, and various skill competitions through Skills USA and ProStart-FCCLA. In these activities students develop leadership and organizational skills, team building, interpersonal communications, and enhanced technical skills.
